Meet the tutor behind Virtual Maths Tutor

Hi, I'm Miss Maddocks and the teacher behind Virtual Maths Tutor. I specialise in helping students to secure their GCSE grade and have 6 years of teaching experience.

My background and why I became a teacher

Before teaching, I studied and worked in accountancy. Although I enjoyed working in this sector and obtained a level 4 diploma in accounting and finance, I decided to retrain as a Maths teacher as I wanted to make a difference to young people and help to give them the best start in life.

My experience and specialism

Over the last 6 years, I've taught years 7 to 12, I became the KS3 maths lead, and in recent years a lead practitioner - meaning I help improve teaching across my academy.

Keen to continue my own studies, i've recently completed an additional qualification, an NPQ in Leading Teacher Development and I'm working with the NCETM on a 3 year Maths Mastery Specialist Programme. My specialism is in secondary maths but I have also tutored year 6 students preparing for their SATs.

A little bit about me

My other interests include long hikes in the Dales or Peaks with my dog Maggie, yoga (I recently started at yoga club for my year 11 students in school), running and spending time with friends and family.
